The New York Jets had their first win of the season…until they didn’t.
Oh, the Jets. Blessed with a chance to give their fans one moment of happiness for perhaps the only time this season, Adam Gase and Co. blew it in the worst way possible. Facing a third down and medium, Derek Carr unleashed a deep ball to Henry Ruggs III, while the Jets secondary evidently forgot how to cover. It was entirely predictable, yet still surprisingly incompetent.
NFL fans everywhere were somewhat optimistic about the Jets getting their first win. No team deserves a winless year, the Cleveland Browns can answer that firsthand. Yet, rooting for the Jets is no easy task, and the social media reaction was entirely worthy of such a brutal moment in the life of New York’s second team.

I might strongly consider playing my senior year at Clemson if the Jets are this determined to get me

Don't overlook the fact that before the game-winning TD, the Jets defense let Nelson Agholor get behind the defense for what should have been a TD.

How does that happen two plays in a row

The Jets are still in the driver’s seat for the No. 1 overall pick, and the right to select Trevor Lawrence. While the front office may be tanking, the idea that Gase and Co. would cooperate with such an effort is shortsighted.
Gase and his staff are unlikely to be back next year. Every loss further cements their fate. While the team isn’t constructed to win at the highest level, Gase is surely hoping to get the most out of this group of players.
It hasn’t gone his way, and moments like their season-defining loss to the Raiders are further evidence of that.
