Travis Kelce has set another record when it comes to receiving yards for a tight end.

Travis Kelce puts up better numbers than most top receivers around the NFL. He entered 2020 with four 1,000-yard seasons and those came in a consecutive stretch from 2016-2019. Jason Witten, Tony Gonzalez, and Rob Gronkowski all have four as well, however, none did it all in a row.

Kelce has now set himself apart Sunday night as he eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark once again. That makes him the first tight end to have five such seasons and also the first to have five consecutive 1,000-yard years.

Kelce sets himself apart among NFL greats

Kelce’s numbers are truly astounding. In his previous four 1,000-yard seasons he has reached 1,100 yards in three of those years. He is now over 1,000 yards with four games yet to be played. He could end up beating his career-best of the 1,336 yards he had in 2018.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end being the first one to have five 1,000-yard seasons puts his greatness into perspective. This is not a usual feat. Getting to this mark on more than one occasion is reserved for legends of the position and Kelce has already made it clear he is on a path to the Hall of Fame.

Kelce made his NFL debut in 2013 and didn’t record a single reception. He then had 862 yards in 2014 and followed that up with 875 in 2015. Those seasons were already impressive. He started to take it to a whole new level in 2016 and hasn’t looked back since.

The legendary tight end just signed a four-year extension this past offseason. Patrick Mahomes is only getting better and Kelce’s numbers could even go up at this rate. It is entirely possible he sets an unbeatable mark of consecutive 1,000-yard seasons by the time he is done. That is a testament to great hands, durability, reliability, and so much more as he stands out as one of the key pieces on arguably the best team in football.
