Ready for a tough sell? Here you go; you should investigate adding Denzel Mims this week in fantasy football.
Why is this an idea that is tough to digest? Mims currently is playing for the New York Jets, and the team’s shortcomings this season have been well documented. Specifically, the challenges the club has had to face on offense. Currently, the Jets have scored the fewest points in the NFL.
However, the team scored 27+ in both Week 9 and Week 11, and Mims’ numbers during that time were 15 targets, seven receptions and 133 yards. He has yet to go for under 40 yards in any game he has played in, and he has had 60+ yards three times.
Mims has returned from injury and has shown flashes of being that playmaking receiver who team general manager Joe Douglas thought he’d be when he took the former Baylor star in the second round of this past draft.
In Week 14, the Jets travel to Seattle to play the Seahawks. This is a great matchup for the rookie. This season, the Seahawks have not defended receivers well.
Mims has not caught a touchdown yet, which is something you as an owner will not like seeing. But, he gets a lot of action downfield and he has come close to having even bigger gains if it weren’t for poorly thrown balls or pass interference.
Sam Darnold will have the chance to gain yardage against a team that has not defended the pass well, which should be more likely with his receivers healthy. Breshad Perriman and Jamison Crowder both are threats to steal action from Mims. Although, Mims could end up going for a career day in this one.
