Shaquille O’Neal made his first appearance with AEW Dynamite on Wednesday, so of course things got intense.

It’s no secret that legendary basketball star Shaquille O’Neal is a diehard professional wrestling fan. After signing a contract extension with TNT back in August, O’Neal challenged All Elite Wrestling executive vice president Cody Rhodes to a match. A few weeks ago, Shaq’s name was dropped by Jade Cargill during a war of words with Rhodes. So, it was only a matter of time before O’Neal would make an appearance for the wrestling company, and it happened on this Wednesday’s edition of AEW Dynamite.

O’Neal sat down for an interview with commentator Tony Schiavone and AEW Chief Branding Officer Brandi Rhodes, who had her arm injured by Cargill. Shaq said that he didn’t like Cargill injuring Brandi and that he has all the respect in the world for Cody. After the interview seemingly ended on a good note, Shaq told Brandi that she could learn a thing from Cargill as she was walking off the set.

That was when Rhodes threw a drink in O’Neal’s face before dropping some expletives.

This may not be the last we see of Shaq in AEW

After watching his appearance, it appears it’s only a matter of time before we see Shaq and Cody Rhodes square off in the ring.

O’Neal has made a variety of appearances at wrestling events over the years. From awarding Hulk Hogan the WCW World Heavyweight Championship following his win over “Nature Boy” Ric Flair at Bash at the Beach in 1994, to facing off against the Big Show in the Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal at WrestleMania 32, O’Neal has made a mark in the pro wrestling industry.

It’s unknown when Shaq will get officially make his in-ring debut for AEW, but he did say he’d be live in attendance for the future match between Brandi Rhodes and Jade Cargill. We should get all of our answers by then. For those who don’t think he’s ring-ready, we’d like to point out his previous wrestling bouts with co-analyst Charles Barkley.
