College football upset alert, Week 15: Georgia among 4 teams on high alert
College football upset alert No. 2: Georgia Bulldogs
Rank: 9 | Opponent: at 25 Missouri Tigers | Time: Saturday, Dec. 12, Noon ET
Recently I called the Georgia Bulldogs the best college football team that no one is talking about anymore because they have no shot at making the Playoff. And when you look at what this team has to offer, that assessment stands true. However, it’s also worth noting that this team has nothing to play for and could just take their foot off the gas to end the 2020 season.
Quarterback JT Daniels playing his third game for the Dawgs might be the only reason that Georgia doesn’t let up as they want to set up the future. However, with a defense that is littered with players likely turning their attention to the NFL and with some offensive skill players who have been a bit erratic in their own right, traveling to Missouri on Saturday is a tricky spot.
If a team goes against this iteration of Mizzou in the first year under head coach Eli Drinkwitz with less than 100 percent focus, they are going to be in trouble. The Tigers aren’t the most talented team in the country but they may be one of the best coached. They have hung around in almost every game they’ve played in because of that as everyone is bought into what Drinkwitz is selling.
The simple truth is that the Tigers are playing for the future outlook of the program while Georgia may be about to throw in the towel with no shot at a National Championship. Given that and the moxie that Missouri has shown this year, we could see a nail-biter in Columbia.
