Georgia Tech football got screwed on the worst late hit call you will ever see.

In a game few people were watching, the ACC officials decided to wreck Georgia Tech football.

Early in the fourth quarter of their home game vs. the Pittsburgh Panthers, Pittsburgh quarterback Kenny Pickett scrambled out of bounds on a third-and-7 in what should have set up a chip-shot field goal. While we would eventually get there, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets defensive back Juanyeh Thomas got flagged for the absolute weakest late hit call in the history of the ACC.

This flag should have been picked up for the sake the sport’s integrity

It is always tricky when the quarterback leaves the pocket and becomes a runner. Pickett can move a little bit for the Panthers, and surely Geoff Collins’ team was well aware of that head of their ACC ball game on Thursday night. What they were not prepared for was the ACC officials gift-wrapping an egregious late hit call in favor of visiting Pittsburgh. Thomas barely touched Pickett.

Though neither of these teams are playing for more than pride at this point, or a meaningless bowl game if you want to go in that direction, it is always unfortunate when the officials do what they do and make the game about themselves. It has been a long year for all of us, so let the boys play already. Pickett was fine and did not need your stupid yellow laundry to help him out. Just awful.

When in doubt, do not throw the flag and just let the football players play some dang football.
