Paul George has signed a five-year extension with the Los Angeles Clippers that will earn him well over $200 million.

The Los Angeles Clippers just sent a massive statement to the Lakers: they’re not going to let them steal all the headlines in the city. After the Lakers won the NBA Finals over the summer, the Clippers have been irked ever since, especially after blowing a 3-1 lead to the Nuggets.

Now, the Clippers are looking to the future and hoping to win a title of their own, as they’ve locked in superstar forward Paul George to a five-year extension. Per NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, George’s new contract is worth a head-turning $226 million.

Paul George’s new five-year deal with the Clippers is mind-blowing

Who actually saw this kind of a deal getting done? George just turned 30 years old, with his new contract leading in to his age-35 season. However, he continues to be one of the best shooters in the game. Plus, he and Kawhi Leonard are able to work magic together whenever they’re on the hardwood.

A six-time NBA All-Star, George started 48 games for the Clippers last season and averaged 21.5 points per game. He added 5.7 rebounds and 3.9 assists per contest. Behind the strong play of George, Leonard and others, the Clippers felt like a lock to meet the Lakers in the Western Conference Finals.

However, the team indeed blew it, letting their 3-1 lead against Denver slip away in stunning fashion. This season, the Clippers are looking to avenge themselves and not only meet their crosstown rivals in the conference finals, but take them down and get to the NBA Finals.

With the season starting later this month, the expectations are high for George and the Clippers. George will now be entering the new season with the confidence of $226 million on its way to his bank account.
