Legendary Nebraska football player Eric Crouch showed his support for head coach Scott Frost on Twitter and it backfired.
Scott Frost’s hiring as Nebraska football head coach started off with plenty of promise, considering his success with Central Florida. Three years in, it’s been disappointing, and it only grew on Saturday afternoon. The Cornhuskers fell to Minnesota 24-17, dropping them to 2-5 on the season.
With many upset with Frost’s job performance, the program’s legendary quarterback in Eric Crouch came to the head coach’s defense. In a tweet shortly after the loss, Crouch said it’s time for fans to be positive and have some faith in Frost. Of course, that was met with the dreaded Twitter ratio.
Tough loss today #Huskernation Let's be positive and believe Frost will get it done.

Frost’s tenure at Lincoln has been underwhelming
Let’s preface by saying that you can’t attack Crouch for seeing things with a positive outlook. Hey, it’s a lot healthier than living with a negative mindset. But when it comes to college football, fans want to see results in a hurry.
Entering their contest on Saturday, Minnesota was severely undermanned, as 33 players were ruled out due to positive COVID-19 tests and contact tracing. In fact, the Golden Gophers were without multiple starters on the offensive line and were limited to two tight ends and four defensive tackles for the game, per FOX Sports’ Bruce Feldman. That, and this was the first game Minnesota would be without star wide receiver Reshod Bateman, who declared for the 2021 NFL Draft after the football program was paused last month due to their COVID-19 outbreak.
Even so, Nebraska was neck-and-neck with the shorthanded Golden Gophers. They both put up similar total yards on offense, but it was the turnovers that put the Cornhuskers away, coming from quarterbacks Adrian Martinez (one fumble) and Luke McCaffrey (one interception).
Frost was hired to bring Nebraska football back to its former glory. This was the man who coached the UCF Knights to a perfect 13-0 season in 2017. Through his three seasons, Frost’s best year came in 2019, where the team finished with a 5-7 record. Frost now owns an 11-20 overall record and has yet to bring the program to a bowl game.
While we understand Nebraska football fans being upset about the direction of the team under Frost, don’t blame Crouch for expressing a positive mindset. Hey, it’s better to do that than making yourself miserable.
