Parker Washington has a bright future ahead of him with Penn State.

Penn State football is in good hands with Parker Washington as its emerging star receiver.

2020 has been a challenging year for the Penn State Nittany Lions. Expected to contend for a College Football Playoff spot, James Franklin‘s team got off to a disastrous 0-5 start. They have since one three games in a row. A big reason they were able to defeat the Michigan State Spartans on Saturday was the great game out of its freshman wide receiver. He came up big for Penn State.

Parker Washington is a serious candidate for Big Ten Freshman of the Year

On the afternoon, Washington had four catches for 95 yards and two touchdowns in the Nittany Lions’ 39-24 victory over the Spartans. In Penn State’s first seven games of the season, Washington had 31 catches for 378 yards and four touchdowns. Young players needed to step up to help make Penn State’s season respectable and Washington seems to have done just that.

As for Franklin’s team, it will be interesting to see what 2021 has in store for the Nittany Lions. Yes, not having your two best returning players from last year in linebacker Micah Parsons or running back Journey Brown play this season hurts, but this is a college football blue-blood program that should be more than just two star players deep. Washington is trending up.

Will Washington end up winning Big Ten Freshman of the Year with his great 2020 season?
