A video showing Kevin Porter Jr. yelling at police has been made public.

Talent has never been the question for Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kevin Porter Jr. Rather, his inability to stay out of trouble has led some to question if he can truly be a success in the NBA. Porter’s doubters received even more ammunition this morning, as a video of him verbally accosting several police officers is making the rounds online.

FOX8 has released a video showing Porter in a very heated confrontation with a police officer in August. Police responded after a confrontation with security guards escalated, to the point of security restraining Porter on the floor. Porter went ballistic, repeatedly making threatening remarks towards the officers and security guards, saying that he’ll “remember them.” It’s not entirely clear at this point what sparked the incident.

Kevin Porter Jr. has had a very noisy offseason after an encouraging rookie season

Porter, picked by Cleveland with the final pick of the first round in the 2019 Draft despite some guessing the former 5-star recruit would go in the lottery, averaged 10.0 points per game as a rookie, most of which came off of the bench.

Porter has been going through quite a lot this offseason. After terrifying fans with a suicidal-sounding Instagram post in October that prompted an outpouring of love and support for him, Porter has since been arrested on weapons charges. He has also been accused of punching a woman during an altercation in August, but he was not charged as a result of this.

Porter has clearly been struggling over the last few months, and this video serves as a reminder that the Cavaliers need to do everything possible to surround him with supportive people in order to help him turn things around. He is an immensely talented player, but he risks throwing away his golden ticket in the NBA with his behavior.
