Boise State targeting Cowboys Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore as next coach

Could Kellen Moore really leave the Cowboys and take the Boise State job?

Boise State thought they had a coach that would lead them for the next decade in former quarterback Bryan Harsin, but he surprised many when he took the head coaching job at Auburn. Hiring a former Boise quarterback with a cutting-edge offensive mind worked out pretty well for them when they brought Harsin back, and they have their eyes set on another legendary Boise signal-caller to replace him.

FootballScoop.com is reporting that the Broncos have zeroed in on Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, who became a college football legend at Boise, as their preferred coaching candidate.

Moore is one of the greatest quarterbacks in college football history. In four years as the starter, Moore went 50-3, never losing twice in a season. He totaled 142 touchdowns passes on 70 percent completion against just 28 picks.

After a six-year NFL career as a backup, Moore became Dallas’ quarterback coach before taking over OC duties in 2019. Moore helped Dak Prescott get within a few yards of 5,000 in his first season on the job, and Prescott was on a record-setting pace this season before his injury ended his campaign.

No one is more synonymous with Boise State football than Moore, and his proven record of success at the NFL level could once again make the Broncos the most feared Group of Five team in the country. However, Moore will need to turn down some interest from the NFL if he wants to make this move.
