Disney and Pixar’s Soul hilariously trolls the Knicks (Video)
By John Buhler
Not even the New York Knicks were safe from being trolled in Disney and Pixar’s Soul.
Who else could have seen Disney and Pixar’s Soul absolutely crushing the New York Knicks this savagely?
The clip in question features a soul named 22 played by Tina Fey having way too much fun at the expense of other souls in front of Joe Gardner’s soul played by Jamie Foxx. 22 was throwing balls of light at the souls of others, leading to unfortunate events, such as former Knicks forward Charles Smith missing all the shots in the world vs. Michael Jordan‘s 1993 Chicago Bulls.
This is a franchise that has not won an NBA Championship since 1973
The Knicks play in the biggest media market in the country and routinely has one of the largest payrolls in the NBA, yet New York hardly ever has one of the best teams in the league. Since their glory days in the late 1960s and early 1970s, the Knicks had another period of great success in the 1990s with center Patrick Ewing as their superstar. However, they never won an NBA Finals then.
There have been very few teams in the NBA, or in major North American professional sports, that have been as snakebitten as the Knicks in recent years. This is why this troll job by Disney and Pixar is so great because it hits so close to the souls of perpetual tortured Knicks fans. Pun intended, no soul is safe if you root for the Knicks, even in a kid’s movie coming out on Christmas.
It will be interesting to see if the Knicks ever win anything of significance ever again.
