The Utah football team is in mourning over the tragic loss of Ty Jordan Saturday.

The Utah Utes lit up The U in honor of their late running back Ty Jordan, who tragically passed away on Saturday morning.

Jordan was coming off a Pac-12 Offensive Freshman of the Year honors. He died at the age of 19 due to an accidental shooting. Obviously, the entire state of Utah is devastated by the news of his death. It is such a huge loss for the Pac-12 and the Utah athletic program. On the day of his death, the Utes honored him with a touching tribute by lighting up The U on the Salt Lake campus.

In only one year on campus, Ty Jordan made a huge impact at Utah

It is hard to even imagine what head coach Kyle Whittingham or any of Jordan’s teammates are going through right now. Naturally, his family is in a state of disrepair, as his death came merely hours after Christmas Day. It came as a shock to us all and we still are having a hard time processing what exactly happened that ended up taking his life away from us this young.

Utah will surely play football in his honor next season, as the Utes will hopefully compete for a Pac-12 South championship like they have in most years since joining the conference. While there will be other ways the Utes, the University of Utah and the Pac-12 will honor Jordan going forward, it was great to see Utah light up The U the day of his untimely and tragic death.

Our hearts go out to everybody effected by this tragedy.
