Every NFC East clinching scenario for Week 17

This could be awhile when you really break it down in the NFC East. 

For the love of all that is Manning, can the NFL season be over just so we can end the NFC East’s torture?

The Washington Football Team had a chance to notch at least a .500 record on the season and clinch the division title. Instead, Dwayne Haskins was benched following two interceptions while former XFL backup Taylor Heinicke came on in relief in a 20-13 loss to the Carolina Panthers.

Down in the Lone Star State, Jalen Hurts dazzled early with a dime to DeSean Jackson. Unfortunately, Andy Dalton decided to play well, throwing for a season-high 377 yards and three touchdowns on the way to a Dallas Cowboys 37-17 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles.

And somehow, Daniel Jones or not, the Baltimore Ravens picked up their 10th win over the New York Giants, cementing them with another 10-loss season.

The kicker? Three teams remain in the hunt for Week 17. Only the Eagles can start planning for next season.

Here’s what needs to happen for every team in the NFC East

There’s good news and bad news for fans of the depleted division. If your team wins, then you could be in. If Washington now wins against the Eagles on the final Sunday Night Football game, they’re in. Hopefully, Alex Smith will be back under center while Terry McLaurin can help grow his impressive sophomore stat line.

Let’s be real, Washington is the best of the worst teams thanks to their defense. However, let’s just say Hurts balls out to show he’s the future of the franchise and the Eagles win. This opens the door for one of the other two teams.

Which one? The one who wins. Dallas will travel to face the Giants at MetLife Stadium to kick off the new year. The hope is Jones will be back for New York, at least making this game bearable.

If not, Dallas and Jerry Jones can at least say they made the postseason.

According to ESPN’s Kevin Seifert, the winner of NFC East will be the first team in NFL history (of 342 candidates) to start a season 2-7 and make the playoffs. According to most people, they should have been eliminated long ago.
