College football DFS quarterback picks December 31:
Top Tier:
The best QB on this slate is Drew Plitt and it really isn’t close. However, this is not a good matchup for him. I much prefer Nick Starkel against Plitt’s defense. SJSU is more of a balanced attack than they come across as. Ball State was able to keep Jaret Patterson in check, so I see Starkel having to fly the friendly skies for a win here. He has the best upside among quarterbacks.
Middle Tier:
The one thing that may save the value of Will Rogers on this slate is the short passing game. That said, I don’t really see a multiple touchdown game for him against the Tulsa defense. Rogers will be a decent play, but I don’t see him as a must-play option.
Bargain Shoppers:
If you use Tyhier Tyler, you’re basically paying $6200 for a third running back. West Virginia’s defense is solid, but Tyler is the one guy that could give them a few issues. There’s risk here, but it’s acceptable for the price.
I like Jarret Doege, but I hate the matchup. Army held Ridder and Cincinnati in check earlier in the year. Zach Smith is a much better cheap option. Tulsa will do a lot of their damage on the ground, but not all. Smith has a pretty high ceiling here and feels cheap for the matchup.
