T.J. Warren will undergo surgery due to fractured foot, out indefinitely

The Indiana Pacers will be without forward T.J. Warren for the foreseeable future.
Indiana Pacers forward T.J. Warren is out indefinitely, as he will undergo surgery to repair a broken foot.
Warren averaged 15.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.3 assists per game in the Pacers’ first four contests of the 2020-21 NBA season. Though this is Warren’s eighth professional season out of North Carolina State, he really made a name for himself during the play-in game portion of the NBA’s bubble. What does Warren’s injury mean for the Pacers’ long-term viability?

Indiana should stay a playoff team, but nothing more than that
The NBA season is still young, but the Pacers were one of the better teams during the December portion of the schedule. Indiana was viewed as a top-five team in the Eastern Conference at the start of the year. Though there is no such thing as a lock for any postseason, Indiana was poised to finish second in the Central Division behind only the title-contending Milwaukee Bucks.

As long as the Pacers continue to get big minutes out of Malcolm Brogdon, Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis and Myles Turner, Indiana will be in the mix to contend for a top-four or five seed in the Eastern Conference. However, this injury will have a negative impact on the Pacers’ rotation, as someone else will have to slot into the starting lineup during his extended absence.
It is still early in the season, but this is not the news Pacers fans wanted to hear about Warren.
