Georgia football running backs coach Dell McGee honors inactive running back James Cook by wearing his jersey at the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl

Georgia Bulldogs running back James Cook was a last-second omission from Kirby Smart‘s roster ahead of the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl due to the death of his father, James, earlier this week.

Georgia running backs coach Dell McGee, who’s been touted as one of the most respected running backs coaches in the nation, honored Cook and his family this afternoon by wearing his No. 4 jersey while coaching on the sidelines against Cincinnati.

Cook, the younger brother of star Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook, returned home to be with his family in Miami, Fl. earlier this week.

The junior tailback was the second-leading rusher for the Bulldogs this season with 303 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns.  The Miami, Fla. native also recorded 225 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns on the year.

Without Cook, the Georgia Bulldogs will heavily rely on running backs Zamir White, Kenny McIntosh, and Kendall Milton to carry the rushing offense.
