College football fans still can’t believe Georgia picked Jake Fromm over Justin Fields
Fans on Twitter still can’t believe Georgia once picked Jake Fromm over Justin Fields.
Justin Fields threw four touchdowns in the first half of the Sugar Bowl and even bounced back after taking a huge shot to the ribs. That gave his Ohio State Buckeyes a 35-14 halftime lead over Clemson.
Fields playing well also accomplishes the goal of college football fans continuing to wonder why the Georgia Bulldogs didn’t make him their starter when they had the chance. Jake Fromm won the job in 2018 and Fields ended up transferring in 2019. Even NFL safety Tyrann Mathieu had to chime in on the matter.
Fans react to Fromm over Fields
Fields showed up to Georgia in 2018 as a freshman, so it is fair to see why he was not initially put in ahead of Fromm. But still, losing him was a tough blow and starting him right away could have changed things for the program.
The Ohio State quarterback has emerged as a top player in his class and is set to be the second quarterback taken in the 2021 NFL Draft after Trevor Lawerence. Meanwhile, Fromm is Buffalo’s emergency quarterback.
Fields showed up to Georgia as a top recruit and was supposed to lead the program to great things. His transfer changed that and fans are left wondering how well the Bulldogs would have done in 2019 and 2020 is he never left.
Georgia was never necessarily bad with Fromm under center. But fans want a national championship and while he got close, he couldn’t light it up like Fields is doing Friday night.
