Oklahoma football will have to replace one of their leading receivers after the transfer of Charleston Rambo, but where could he end up?

After three seasons in Norman, Charleston Rambo is looking for a new home.

The Oklahoma football receiver announced on his Twitter that he’s thankful for Sooner Nation but he’s looking to finish his college football career elsewhere.

Rambo was fourth on the team in receptions. yards and touchdowns with 25 catches for 313 yards and three scores. One of those touchdowns came in Oklahoma’s demolition of Florida in the Cotton Bowl Classic, the last game of his Sooners’ career.

He also had 11 kick returns for the Sooners in 2020 with a single punt return. Rambo had 43 receptions for 743 yards and five touchdowns in 2019 in 14 games with Jalen Hurts at quarterback.

Charleston Rambo is a hot free agent after leaving Oklahoma

One of the more dependable receivers on the roster, Rambo will look for a starting job and a bigger role in the offense at his new home. He’ll have plenty of options, but perhaps none with the type of explosiveness and aerial assault that Oklahoma provides. Then again, he didn’t get a bigger share of targets in this system so it’s hard to fault a player for taking a different path and doing what’s in his best interests.

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Rambo may need a big season or two in his new spot to open the eyes of NFL talent evaluators to have a chance at making an NFL roster.

It’s probably unlikely Rambo will transfer to another Big 12 program but don’t be surprised if the Cedar Hill, Texas native stays in the Big 12 geographical footprint, perhaps at a place like SMU.
