Dodgers players share fond memories of Tommy Lasorda following his death.
The Los Angeles Dodgers organization lost a legend on Friday when it announced that former manager, Tommy Lasorda, had died. This comes just days after another Dodgers legend, the wife of Vin Scully, also died.
Dodgers players and members of the organization took to social media to share their memories of the man who was a member of the baseball organization for decades.
“He told the same stories and the same jokes over and over again. I still listened and laughed the same each time. His ability to command a room and make people laugh is what I will remember most. When I got drafted and came to Dodger Stadium, my mom came with me and we got to meet Tommy that day. Every single time I saw him from that time on he asked me how she was doing and called her by her name, Marianne. Thankful for the time we had together, and most thankful that he could be here to see us win the whole thing. RIP Tommy.”
Other players and Dodgers staff recalled memories or offered their condolences. Even some former players and broadcast partners shared their thoughts.
Prayers up for the Lasorda family. It was my honor to know Tommy during my time in LA. No one I’ve ever met has matched Tommy’s love for baseball and I don’t think they ever will. I’m so grateful to have gotten to know him and to have spent the time with him that I did.

Another irreplaceable loss. We lost a person of passion who had a joyful zest for life. I had the honor to travel the baseball world with him. He loved life - his family, his country, his Dodgers, his heritage, the people of this city & his pasta. Rest easy my friend. #dodgers pic.twitter.com/5Wj5pvwZnc

I will miss our conversations about the Dodgers & the Lakers. He meant the world to the Dodgers organization, MLB, and to the city of Los Angeles. He will always be known to Dodger Nation as “Mr. Dodger.” Cookie and I are praying for the entire Lasorda family. May he RIP.🙏🏾 pic.twitter.com/fu8OIwqSWo

In 20 years as the Dodgers manager, he won 2 World Series championships, 4 NL pennants & 8 division titles.
