Bernie Kosar is trying to get Browns fans pumped as they make their grand return to the postseason.

The Cleveland Browns made the playoffs for the first time in almost two decades, as Baker Mayfield improved from a six-win team to an 11-win beast that routinely took down some of the best teams in the league. Bernie Kosar was the quarterback in Cleveland the last time they were a perennial playoff team, and he’s leading the charge in getting Browns fans excited for tonight.

Before the Browns take on the rival Pittsburgh Steelers in the postseason, Kosar put out a brief video on his Twitter account thanking Browns fans for their loyalty and urging them to get fired up before Cleveland’s first playoff game in almost 20 years.

Baker Mayfield is playing like the best quarterback Cleveland has had since Bernie Kosar

Kosar was Marty Schottenheimer’s preferred choice in the late 1980s, throwing for just under 22,000 yards and 116 touchdowns during his nine seasons in Cleveland. After literal decades of futility at that position, Cleveland appears to have found something in Mayfield, as his efficient passing and game management has broken Cleveland’s playoff drought.

COVID-19 dealt the Browns quite an awful hand, as head coach Kevin Stefanski joined players like Denzel Ward and Joel Bitonio on the list of Browns who will not be available on the sideline. However, the Browns have a bit of a magical quality with Mayfield under center, and that ability to make just enough timely plays could end up giving them the victory.

While Cleveland faces long odds against a tough Pittsburgh defense and an offense that is due for a resurgence after a few disappointing weeks, Kosar knows that anything can happen if Mayfield gets rolling and the entirety of Browns Nation gets behind their club.
