Alabama’s DeVonta Smith put on a show in the first half of the National Championship Game, leaving the college football media speechless and in awe.
The first half of the National Championship Game was owned by Alabama’s DeVonta Smith.
The wide receiver was too much for Ohio State to handle. Whether he caught the ball behind the line of scrimmage or well behind the defense, there was just no answer.
By the time he caught his third touchdown of the game and crossed the 200-yard mark, the college football world was lost for words.
DeVonta Smith.

That’s it.
That’s the tweet.

and there is Devonta TD bang bang

This is insane.

This is ridiculous.

Having your jaw hanging on the floor was a common response to Smith’s outing. When you put a linebacker on the best receiver in college football, it may be the only response.
Tuf Borland on DeVonta Smith? That's unfair. This is absurd.

It’s almost like Ohio State didn’t realize what a weapon Smith was.
Devonta Smith 12 catches for 215 yards and 3 TDs. In the first half.

Imagine not voting him for Heisman. Couldn't be me.
DeVonta Smith: 12 for 215, 3 TDs ... still in the first half. He's crushing the Buckeyes D and any hint of the old Heisman Jinx. Mercy.

With 1:48 still left in the first half, DeVonta Smith:
— Matt Zenitz (@mzenitz) January 12, 2021
— Has broken the record for catches in a CFP national title game (12)
— Has broken the CFP title game record with three TD catches
— Has 215 receiving yards, seven away from breaking that CFP title game record
DeVonta Smith is having one of the greatest individual performances I've ever seen in a championship game. And it's not even halftime.

The third touchdown sure made people feel like the game was done.
Alabama Touchdown, Smith.
— Ralph D. Russo (@ralphDrussoAP) January 12, 2021
Folks, I think we're done here.
DeVonta called game. #NationalChampionship

Undoubtedly Smith’s performance was one of the greatest in title game history. And he’s still got a half to add to it.
