Nick Saban letting Landon Dickerson take one last snap was such an emotional moment.

There was no way injured Alabama center Landon Dickerson would play another down for Crimson Tide, but his head coach Nick Saban gave the Rimington Trophy winner an unforgettable moment of a lifetime.

Dickerson blew his knee out in the Crimson Tide’s Rose Bowl victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on New Year’s Day. Despite being one of the best offensive lineman in the country, that looked to be it for the redshirt senior graduate transfer from Florida State. However, Saban let him take the final snap in the victory formation as Alabama won the 2021 National Championship.

Landon Dickerson starred on one of the greatest college offenses to date

As Dickerson embarks on his NFL career, we need to be reminded of how dominant the Alabama offense was this season. The Alabama offense featured the winner of the Rimington (Dickerson), the Outland (offensive tackle Alex Leatherwood), the Doak Walker (running back Najee Harris), the Davey O’Brien (quarterback Mac Jones) and the Heisman (wide receiver DeVonta Smith).

Smith cleaned up during awards season as college football’s premier player. However, he did not do it alone. Without guys like Dickerson having unforgettable seasons, Alabama does not go 13-0 en route to the sixth national championship of the Saban era in Tuscaloosa. Even though Dickerson did suit up for this game, he was beyond elated to end his college career on the highest of notes.
