Vanderbilt kicker Sarah Fuller, who became the first woman to play and score a point in a Power Five game, will participate in the presidential inauguration of Joe Biden.

Sarah Fuller’s college football story will continue thanks to an invite from Joe Biden to the presidential inauguration on Jan. 20.

The kicker who stepped in for Vanderbilt and became the first woman to play in a Power Five football game announced the invite on Twitter on Sunday.

Sarah Fuller will see history made on Wednesday

“It’s an honor to be invited to participate in one of America’s greatest traditions. This historic inauguration is especially meaningful for American women and girls. The glass ceilings are breaking and it is the time to #LeadLikeAWoman,” Fuller wrote.

Fuller made history on Nov. 28 when Vanderbilt faced Missouri. When the Commodores faced a crisis on special teams because of a COVID-19 outbreak, they turned to the women’s soccer team to fill the gap. Fuller was in goal as they won the SEC tournament earlier in the fall.

She made her first college football appearance by successfully executing a squib kick in the second half in the loss to Missouri.

A couple of weeks later she was called upon to kick an extra point as Vanderbilt lost to Tennessee. She became the first woman to score a point in a Power Five game as a result.

Despite some factions calling the achievement into question, Fuller’s groundbreaking moment was celebrated by college football fans for inspiring women and girls around the country. President-elect Biden and vice president-elect Kamala Harris took note.

Along with an inauguration appearance, 2021 holds plenty of excitement for Fuller. She is set to transfer to North Texas for the coming season as a graduate transfer.
