Tom Brady celebrated his touchdown against the Saints by trying for a high-five from an official, who respectfully declined.

Tom Brady just wants a high-five. NFL officials won’t give him one.

When Brady punched in a touchdown to put the Buccaneers up by 10 over the Saints, he jumped up and searched for high-fives as he ran to the sideline.

He presented the opportunity to the closest man in black and white, but the official gracefully left the quarterback hanging.

In a game that didn’t have too many fireworks, it was at least a giggle-worthy moment.

Tom Brady has a long history of high-five fails

Credit Brady for leaning into his reputation for being left hanging. And credit the referee for obliging again in this case.

The jokes if the official had actually high-fived Brady would have been too much to handle.

Brady had reason to celebrate with everyone in sight. His Buccaneers clinched a spot in the NFC Championship Game with their 30-20 win in New Orleans.

The veteran passer had 199 yards and two touchdowns through the air, plus his sneak for one yard on the ground.

Field goal dominated the early phases of the game but the Buccaneers scored the final 17 points of the game to ensure their victory. Brady’s one-yard score made it 30-20 with just under five minutes to play.

While Brady remains an ageless marvel, the Tampa Bay defense deserves a high-five for their efforts. They forced three interceptions from Drew Brees while also forcing a fumble. Those turnovers ultimately hamstrung the Saints.

Brees finished with just 134 yards, a touchdown and that trio of picks in what is likely to be his final NFL appearance.

Brady, on the other hand, will continue to face the Packers in the NFC title game.
