Charles Barkley asks FanDuel for a refund on his $100k championship bet on the Blazers
By Scott Rogust
Charles Barkley bet $100,000 that the Portland Trail Blazers would win the Western Conference this season. 14 games in, and he already wants a refund.
At the start of every NBA season, we all give our predictions as to who will hoist the Larry O’Brien Trophy at the end of the playoffs. Some are so confident in their picks, that they bet some serious money on them.
Inside the NBA analyst, Charles Barkley had been a firm believer in the Portland Trail Blazers dating back to the league’s time in the Walt Disney World bubble this past summer. On Opening Night for the 2020-21 season, Barkley said that with his first bet on FanDuel, he’s putting $100,000 on the Trail Blazers to win the Western Conference this season.
How’s that bet working out for Chuck? Well, after Portland lost 125-104 to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, Barkley asked FanDuel for a refund on the air!
Barkley’s given up 14 games into the season
That’s right, after losing to the Spurs, Barkley has given up on the Trail Blazers. We’re only 14 games into the season, Chuck! Keep the faith!
This season, Portland has averaged 114.9 points scored per game, which ranks seventh-highest in the NBA. The problem is that the Trail Blazers have shot 43.8-percent from the field, which rates as fourth-worst in the league. But, they make up for it from shooting behind the arc, which comes at 37.4-percent (eighth-highest).
Portland’s scheduled game for Wednesday against the Memphis Grizzlies was postponed due to COVID-19 protocols. The two teams are still scheduled to play in their next game on Friday, unless things change.
There’s still plenty of season left for the Trail Blazers to turn things around. Best believe that Barkley will be jumping back on the bandwagon once they get on a winning streak.
