Texans are literally begging for Eric Bieniemy to get hired as head coach
Houston Texans players have made it quite clear that they want the front office to hire Eric Bieniemy as the new head coach.
Who will the Houston Texans bring in to be their next head coach? That’s the $1 million question everyone in Houston is waiting to find out. While the team has conducted several interviews with candidates, it looks like there’s one person, in particular, the players are hoping for.
Per NFL Insider Matt Verderame, players inside the Texans locker room have made it clear to the front office that they’re hoping Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy gets the job. Will that end up happening?
Eric Bieniemy has emerged as a serious candidate for the Houston Texans
It really only feels like a matter of time before Bieniemy is given his shot as a head coach. Earlier this week, Kansas City’s Andy Reid was asked about his offensive coordinator and he made it perfectly clear that Bieniemy is deserving of a shot. Reid also went on to say how much he’s going to miss Bieniemy running his offense once he eventually leaves town for his own gig.
With Bieniemy in Kansas City, the Chiefs’ offense has become one of the most lethal units in the NFL. We’ve seen what Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce, Tyreek Hill and others have been able to do under Bieniemy’s direction. He played a major role in the team winning the Super Bowl last season.
Now, Texans standouts are hopeful that Bieniemy can trade in his Kansas City gear for some Houston apparel. New general manager Nick Caserio has plenty of pressure on him to try and keep Deshaun Watson happy. Hiring Bieniemy could go a long way in helping him mend the relationship between the quarterback and the organization.
