Memphis Grizzlies next three games are canceled because of COVID-depleted roster

Due to coronavirus complications, the Memphis Grizzles’ next three games have been postponed. 

Things unfortunately have been going from bad to worse for the Memphis Grizzlies and their fight with the coronavirus. Due to contact tracing, the Grizzlies have seen their number of guys available to suit up and take the hardwood totally depleted of late.

After having their Wednesday night showdown postponed, the NBA has announced that the Grizzlies’ next three games have been pushed back as well.

The Grizzlies won’t return to action until next week due to coronavirus issues

Memphis and Portland were originally set to face off on Wednesday night, but that game was postponed due to COVID-19 safety measures and protocols. Now, we may not see Memphis back on the court for another week.

“The games are being postponed due to unavailable players for the Grizzlies and contact tracing for other players on their roster, and in order to ensure the health and safety of players on both teams,” the NBA said in a statement.

While the pausing of games might be a bit frustrating for Memphis fans, the last thing anyone wants is for the players or coaches to put themselves at risk of catching the virus. All the protocols must be followed.

Despite the postponements, the confidence is high for Memphis right now. After starting the season a disappointing 2-6, the Grizzlies have gone on to win five games in a row and sit in seventh place of the Western Conference standings with their 7-6 record.

Before going down with his ankle injury, Ja Morant was leading the team with his 22.6 points a game. He’s expected to be back in the next 2-3 weeks. Dillons Brooks is adding 15.2 points per game, while big man Jonas Valanciunas is averaging 14.4 points and 10.4 rebounds.
