Patrick Mahomes could be the greatest ever when it’s all said and done.

New week, new Mahomes stat. It doesn’t matter how you cut it, the numbers all stack up in favor of the Kansas City Chiefs signal-caller. Entering another critical AFC Championship test against the Buffalo Bills, Mahomes can take solace in the fact that he’s been there before — two times in fact — while his opponent is playing in his first conference-deciding game.

Mahomes is so good in these situations, and it should come as no surprise. In both the regular season and playoffs he continues to reset the record books in ways we previously thought untouchable.

Mahomes, at this point in his career, is the best regular season and postseason QB ever

Per Pro Football Talk, Mahomes has the highest passer rating of any quarterback in both the regular season and playoffs.

“To qualify for the regular season record, a quarterback must have thrown 1,500 career passes. Mahomes topped that mark in the 2020 season and now has thrown 1,687 passes in his career. He has a career passer rating of 108.7, topping Deshaun Watson‘s 104.5, Aaron Rodgers‘ 103.9, Russell Wilson‘s 101.7 and Drew Brees‘s 98.7,” Michael David Smith writes.

So, in a class of only future Hall of Famers, Mahomes reigns supreme. The playoffs are no laughing matter either, and the Chiefs star’s rating of 106.6 is greater than the previous mark, held by Bart Starr, at 104.8.

This doesn’t make Mahomes the best quarterback of all-time just yet, of course. He’s merely in his fourth year in the NFL, but at this point it’s tough to remember any QB taking the league by storm as much as the Texas Tech product has. Only time will tell, but Mahomes is well on his way to greatness, and at the very least a Hall-of-Fame career.
