Veteran cornerback Tramon Williams will become the first player in NFL history to be a part of two teams in one postseason.

This week, the Green Bay Packers signed veteran cornerback Tramon Williams in what would become his third stint with the team as a member of the practice squad. Now, he’s on pace to make some history.

On Saturday, the Packers placed Williams on their active roster as a COVID-19 emergency replacement elevation ahead of their NFC Championship Game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. If Williams is to take the field on Sunday afternoon, he’ll become the first player in NFL history to play on two different teams in a single postseason.

Williams previously played for the Baltimore Ravens

At the start of the playoffs, Williams was a member of the Baltimore Ravens. He didn’t play in the Wild Card Round against the Tennessee Titans, but he did get some snaps in in the Divisional Round in Baltimore’s 17-3 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Shortly after the elimination, Williams re-upped with the Packers.

In four regular-season games, Williams recorded 14 total tackles and one pass defended. Williams posted three total tackles in Baltimore’s loss to the Bills.

Williams will be making his first appearance in a Packers uniform since last year’s NFC Championship Game against the San Francisco 49ers.

The Packers were set to make history over a week ago when they signed offensive tackle Jared Veldheer, who suited up for the Indianapolis Colts in the first official game of the playoffs. Veldheer was slated to play for Green Bay in the Divisional Round against the Los Angeles Rams, but could not after testing positive for COVID-19.

While making history is nice and all, you have to believe Williams is more focused on helping the Packers win their first NFC Championship since 2010, the year where they last won the Super Bowl.
