The Kansas City Chiefs made it to Super Bowl 55, but they could be without their left tackle.

For the second-consecutive season, the Kansas City Chiefs are heading to Super Bowl 55 after defeating the Buffalo Bills by the score of 38-24. While quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce and wide receiver Tyreek Hill lit up the stat-sheet, they suffered a brutal loss to their offense.

In the fourth quarter of the AFC Championship Game, the Chiefs ruled out left tackle Eric Fisher for the remainder of the contest due to an Achilles injury. The ailment was picked up after Fisher tripped on the turf as he tried to fend off Bills defensive end Mario Addison.

Fisher’s unlikely to be cleared for the Super Bowl

As of this writing, there’s no word on the severity of Fisher’s injury. But given that it’s his Achilles and that the Super Bowl is two weeks away, it’s highly unlikely that Fisher will be able to take the field and block Mahomes’ blind side.

Fisher’s loss will definitely sting, as the Chiefs face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. On Sunday, the Buccaneers defeated the Green Bay Packers 31-26 in the NFC Championship Game. Tampa Bay’s defense presented itself as a problem for the Packers, as Rodgers was sacked five times in total by the duo of Shaquill Barrett (three) and Jason Pierre-Paul (two). Additionally, the Buccaneers have Ndamukong Suh and Vita Vea on the defensive line. It’s going to be rough goings for the Chiefs’ offensive line.

We will continue to keep you posted on the severity of Fisher’s injury. But based off early reports, Chiefs fans shouldn’t expect him to be wearing a uniform in Tampa Bay on Feb. 7.
