On Aaron Rodgers’ interception, the refs completely blew it and missed a hold call committed on wide receiver Allen Lazard.

This play is going to be talked about for a while, especially if the Green Bay Packers go on to lose the NFC Championship Game against Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Late in the first half, with Green Bay hoping to take the lead, Aaron Rodgers tossed an untimely interception.

However, when you look at the replay of the interception, it’s clear that Tampa Bay cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting clearly held Allen Lazard on the play. How was a flag not thrown here?

A blown call by the refs opened the door for Tampa Bay to score a touchdown

This is textbook holding. Murphy-Bunting grabbed Lazard’s shoulder, pulled him and then made a play on the ball to come away with the turnover for his team. Yet, the officials didn’t throw a flag, which is completely absurd.

To make things even worse for the Packers, Tom Brady got the ball back near midfield and took advantage of the free gift from the refs. Brady hit Scotty Miller for a 39-yard touchdown with one second left in the first half. You could hear a pin drop inside Lambeau Field after that score, as it completely silenced the Packers fans inside the stadium.

At halftime, the Bucs hold a 21-10 lead. Had a flag been thrown on the Rodgers interception, Green Bay very well could have ended up entering the locker room on top. This was an inexcusable mistake by the officials.
