NFC West . 1. 42. Pick Analysis. . San Francisco 49ers . player. Scouting Report

In 2005, Rodgers sat in a green room, thinking the wait time would be short. The San Francisco 49ers were picking first, meaning a quarterback was coming off the boards. Everyone believed it would Rodgers but instead, the franchise went with Smith.

Can San Francisco finally land the best quarterback of his draft class?

The 49ers have an offense that can win now. George Kittle is right there with Travis Kelce as the league’s top tight end while the running back by committee approach thrives in Kyle Shanahan’s system. The defense is good enough to maintain top-10 status and will be even healthier this offseason.

Jimmy Garoppolo has a winning record with the franchise, but how much of that is based on his talent? Is Shanahan finished with him as the guy to lead the team? With a young receiving corps, plus and an offensive line that will hold their own, San Francisco needs to take advantage of this young roster before having to pay top dollar to keep this unit together.

Rodgers is a California native and likely will head home when he calls it a career. Why not make the move early and have a shot at one more ring?
