The Buffalo Bills have to be one of the likeliest teams to get to Super Bowl 56 in the NFL.

After winning a pair of home playoff games, the Buffalo Bills could not get it done vs. the top-seeded Kansas City Chiefs in the 2020 AFC Championship game.

As all of Bills Mafia saw the Chiefs win the AFC Championship in back-to-back seasons to go to the Super Bowl, this rabid fanbase should be proud of what this year’s accomplished. While some members may have unrealistic expectations for this team most years, Buffalo has so many good things going for it to not be in the mix to get to Super Bowl 56 at SoFi Stadium next season.

Why the Buffalo Bills can reach Super Bowl 56

3. This team had a great season and carries positive momentum into next year

While the hangover maybe of the skull-rattling variety this afternoon, Buffalo is too strong of an organization and has too well-constructed of a roster to not be in contention to represent the AFC in Inglewood next year. It has been a slow and methodical build under head coach Sean McDermott and general manager Brandon Beane, but it is one that is now paying out in dividends.

Buffalo won the AFC East for the first time in a generation. The Bills won not one, but two playoff games over the Indianapolis Colts and the Baltimore Ravens. Many of the key pieces in place are not going anywhere. Though you do have to start each season from the bottom of the mountain, each subsequent year under the McDermott/Beane regime has been smoother than the last.

The Bills will enter the 2021 NFL season as a sure-fire, top-five team in football. They will be grouped in with about seven other teams who have realistic aspirations to hoist a Lombardi Trophy in two Februaries. So what if they came up short on the road vs. Patrick Mahomes and the defending Super Bowl champion Chiefs? Most teams would fall to pieces in that situation.

Overall, this team only needs to make a few micro-adjustments internally to take the Lamar Hunt Trophy out of Kansas City’s kung fu grip. Yes, the pathway to the Super Bowl out of the AFC looks to be running through Arrowhead for the time being. However, not team is better equipped organizationally or will be as motivated in the AFC to get the job done next season than Buffalo.
