Georgia football: Bulldogs offer 8th grader Anquon Fegans from Alabama

The Georgia football program offers eighth-grader Anquon Fegans from Oxford, Alabama.

When a strong football team like the Georgia Bulldogs offers you before you even enter high school, you must be one heck of a can’t-miss prospect. That is what the Georgia football program did on Tuesday by offering eighth-grader Anquon Fegans out of Oxford, Alabama.

Fegans is the younger brother of four-star cornerback Trequon Fegans of the 2022 recruiting cycle. SEC teams like Alabama, Auburn and Georgia will be in hot pursuit of his commitment. So upon the older Fegans brother’s recruitment, Georgia snuck in there and offered the eighth-grader in the class of 2025.

“Trequon was on the phone with a Georgia coach, and he was showing coach my film, and the coach said he is going to get back with me shortly,” Fegans told Rivals. “After a few days, he texted Trequon and said we are going to offer your brother. … I didn’t see my first offer coming this early, so it was a big surprise. It felt great when I got the offers and it was a great blessing.”

“Georgia has a great football program and we already have a former Oxford player there in Clay Webb. I love the defense that Georgia has and it’s a blessing to receive an offer from the University of Georgia.”

Does getting Anquon’s intrigue help Georgia land the Fegans brothers?

While there are no guarantees a younger brother will follow an older brother to a certain college, it does certainly make things easier. Being able to pry even one of these talent prospects out of the Yellowhammer State would be a huge get for Georgia. That is not to say the Dawgs are not capable, but Alabama and Auburn do a great job historically of protecting their recruiting borders.

Fegans did grow up an Auburn fan, for what it is worth. The good news for him is he has at least three more years before he has to think about making a decision about where to play his college ball. Offering the younger Fegans brother this soon may signify how much Georgia thinks about the older one in this cycle. Or it could indicate how much of a blue-chip prospect Anquon is.

All we know is when a blue-blood like Georgia offers an eighth-grader, we all will turn our heads.
