Deshaun Watson deletes all Texans references on his social media
By John Buhler
Deshaun Watson has removed all Houston Texans references on his social media accounts.
If you needed any more proof that Deshaun Watson wants to be traded away from the Houston Texans, go look at his social media accounts. He has purged all Texans content from his Instagram and Twitter pages.
Watson has spent his entire four-year NFL career with the Texans organization. Though he is the greatest quarterback in franchise history already, he has let it be known that he is not a fan of the direction the organization is heading in. Even after Houston hired David Culley to be the team’s next head coach, Watson announced his intentions to waive his no-trade clause. He wants out.
How soon should we expect Deshaun Watson to be traded from the Texans?
While new Texans general manager Nick Caserio says he has no intentions of trading his best player, it is not like his best player wants to keep playing for Houston. Watson would command a huge return in a trade, as his massive contract he signed last offseason ensures that to be the case. For prospective trade partners, it is about how badly they need a franchise quarterback.
Trades cannot be made official until the start of the new league year in March. In theory, Watson could be dealt as soon as today, but a deal is more likely to happen between the Super Bowl and the start of 2021 NFL free agency. With Watson removing all Texans content from his social media accounts, there is no other way to interpret this calculated move other than he wants out.
Caserio and the Texans front office are losing leverage by the day when it comes to a Watson deal.
