After four years with the Michigan football program, Dylan McCaffrey will now play for his dad.

Former Michigan football player Dylan McCaffrey has decided to transfer to play for his father Ed McCaffrey’s Northern Colorado Bears.

McCaffrey was recruited out of high school to play for Michigan in 2017. He played sparingly for the Wolverines from 2018 to 2020. After obtaining his degree, McCaffrey has two years of eligibility and will be eligible to play immediately for Northern Colorado.

The McCaffrey brothers all grew up in Colorado, as their father was a former star wide receiver for the NFL‘s Denver Broncos.

How does the Michigan quarterback room look now ahead of the 2021 season?

Michigan has two returning quarterbacks with starting experience in Cade McNamara and Joe Milton, as well as top recruit J.J. McCarthy. Quarterback issues were a major concern for Jim Harbaugh’s team a season ago. While there were moments where McNamara and Milton shined, there were not consistent enough to even help the Wolverines win a single game at home last fall.

As for McCaffrey, he opted out of the 2020 college football season. Even though his father was named the head coach of Northern Colorado back in late 2019, McCaffrey has yet to coach a game for the Bears due to COVID-19. The McCaffreys reuniting at Northern Colorado does remind us in a way of what Deion Sanders and his two sons are doing playing for him at HBCU Jackson State.

While McCaffrey moves on to Northern Colorado, Michigan has a quarterback battle to sort out.
