Baylor puts its unbeaten record on the line with a tough trip to Texas.

The Big 12 is America’s most rugged conference from top-to-bottom and it has given us plenty of marquee matchups over the course of the season. This week could give us a Game of the Year candidate as Baylor puts its undefeated season on the line with a road matchup against in-state rival Texas.

The Bears have been jousting with Gonzaga for the title of college basketball’s best team all season long, a trend that continued as they defeated Auburn on Saturday in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge. Five different players scored in double-figures for Baylor in that game, headlined by Adam Flagler’s 19 points off the bench with Jared Butler contributing 16 for good measure.

That kind of incredible depth has played a big role in the success the Bears have had this season. Baylor brought back nearly everyone from last year’s excellent team that could have been a no. 1 seed if the NCAA Tournament was played and that added continuity has made a tremendous difference.

The Bears hit the road here for their toughest trip of the season as they take on the No. 6 Texas Longhorns. It has been a week since the Longhorns last played, losing by a point to Oklahoma, before their scheduled game against Kentucky on Saturday was canceled due to COVID issues for the Wildcats.

Texas will have a huge rest advantage and is more than capable of knocking off the Bears thanks to a well-rounded group that is extremely athletic and defends at a high level. Head coach Shaka Smart will also be back on the bench after missing the Oklahoma game due to a significant bout with COVID-19, a huge boost for the Longhorn’s chances.
