Denver Broncos free agency 2021: Top 5 targets
3. Jacoby Brissett
The Colts soured on Brissett in favor of paying Philip Rivers’ big money to play one season in Indianapolis. It seems very likely that Brissett will leave the team for greener pastures this offseason.
The Broncos represent an interesting potential landing spot. Brissett could be lured to Denver by the promise of being given a legitimate chance to beat out Lock during the preseason. He wouldn’t necessarily be favored to win that competition, but he might like his chances as a competitor.
Fangio and his offensive coaching staff should be attracted to Brissett’s mobility. This offense needs to find a way to keep the chains moving when the perfect play call isn’t made. Having a quarterback who can improvise can drastically raise the floor of the Broncos’ offense.
Remember, the best-case scenario for Denver is that they never need him to play significant snaps. They want to find a way for Lock to succeed. Signing an intriguing veteran like Brissett to pressure him during the preseason could be the only way to get Lock’s career on track.
