The Lakers face off against the Thunder in Oklahoma City on Monday night.

With the Super Bowl officially behind us, the attention turns to the NBA full-time, as the playoff chase is slowly but surely starting to take shape.

Sure, it’s not even midseason, but we know exactly where teams like the Lakers and Thunder are headed. Los Angeles, for example, is coasting to another top-seeded (or close to it) finish in the Western Conference, while the Thunder are headed in the opposite direction.

Oklahoma City got rid of Chris Paul this offseason, and sits on a treasure trove of NBA Draft picks. While we won’t go as far as to say they’re outright tanking, the worse their record is, the better the prospect they potentially gain. This is especially evident considering the top player in this draft class is probably Oklahoma State’s Cade Cunningham, so the Thunder have an up close look.

LeBron James, meanwhile, continues to flex his way into the MVP conversation for the thousandth season in a row. Time is a flat circle in the NBA, and James has found a way to outlast it as he’s in his age-36 season.

Lakers vs Thunder can only be watched locally. For Oklahoma residents, the game can be seen on FOX Sports Oklahoma, and in Los Angeles, Spectrum Sportsnet. The game will also be broadcast on the NBA streams subreddit community. Opening tip is 10:00 a.m. ET.
