1. Indianapolis Colts

The Colts have the cap space to get whoever the might want at quarterback this offseason. But general manager Chris Ballard has made it clear they won’t do something big just to do it, fitting with the template he has gone with since taking over (with nice results). So the idea of going short-term with someone under center, as they did with Philip Rivers last offseason, is definitely on the table.

As Wilson slowly (or perhaps not so slowly) falls out of love with the situation in Seattle, Indianapolis might catch his eye. The Colts have a combination of good structure top to bottom, coaches who aren’t stuck in neutral in terms of offensive philosophy and a well-rounded roster that’s ready to win now. As it sits right now, a top-end quarterback is the last piece to make them a legit Super Bowl contender each and every year for years to come.

If Wilson eventually tries to force the Seahawks’ hand, the Colts would easily surface as a top and likely preferred landing spot for him in a trade (assuming they still have a need, say a year from now). Maybe they sign someone to a one-year deal this offseason, with an eye on pursuing Wilson in 2022.
