These three players could be surprising cuts for the Dallas Cowboys.

There may not be a team in the NFL that was more disappointing in the 2020 season than the Dallas Cowboys. A popular Super Bowl pick in the preseason, Dallas is nowhere near the top of the list for Super Bowl LVI contenders thanks to an awful defense and significant questions to answer this offseason.

Jerry Jones has his work cut out for him to rebuild the Cowboys’ roster, which is a challenge with just $18 million in salary cap room before dealing with a Dak Prescott extension. Doing a deal with Prescott and re-tooling the defense means that Jones will have to make some difficult choices, so let’s look at three players who could be let to go clear cap space.

3. Dallas Cowboys surprise cuts – CB Anthony Brown

Most of the Cowboys’ defensive secondary is entering free agency with Brown one of the notable exceptions. Brown is at his best in the slot but did underachieve for Dallas in 2020, playing a role in the unit’s overall struggles.

There is a good chance the Cowboys draft a corner and sign one in free agency, which could leave Brown as a potential cap casualty. Dallas can save over $4 million by designating Brown a post-June 1 cut, money they could use to upgrade elsewhere on the defense.
