2021 NFL Draft: Indianapolis Colts 7-round mock
The Colts head into the 2021 offseason in search of a new starting quarterback. Will they nab that player in the NFL Draft?
Indianapolis’ most pressing need this offseason is to find a replacement for Philip Rivers at the quarterback position. The Colts are scouring the trade market for a young veteran who can get them to Super Bowl 56. There’s a chance they’ll be forced to settle for a rookie in April’s draft, but the odds favor a trade solving the franchise’s biggest issue.
The upside to that reality is that Indianapolis can focus on other needs in this year’s draft without needing to reach for a quarterback. The quality of depth across the team’s roster leaves them short on needs. In other words, Indianapolis should be able to focus on taking the best player available with nearly every selection in this year’s draft.
If pressed, the Colts must admit they need to upgrade their edge-rushing talent and find a left tackle capable of protecting their TBD quarterback. Expect Frank Reich and his coaching staff to solve the edge-rushing issue in Round 1.

Rousseau’s stock seems to be on the decline at this stage of the pre-draft process, but it’s highly unlikely he’s going to fall all the way out of Round 1. The Colts are the perfect team to gamble on his upside with the No. 21 overall selection.
The former Miami standout has all the physical talent to be a top-notch edge rusher at the NFL level, but he’s going to require coaching up before he fulfills that potential. His technique leaves a lot to be desired at the moment. Even so, his freakish combination of length and burst off the edge make him the right pick for the Colts on Day One.
