Eagles free agency rumors, Chris Godwin

The Eagles need to conduct a roster overhaul this offseason. Here are five free agent targets that can help Philadelphia achieve that goal.

Nick Sirriani has been hired to oversee a changing of the guard with the Eagles. A host of big-name veterans will be offloaded by Philadelphia this offseason. It’s imperative that the team find a few quality free agents to help ease that transition.

Unfortunately for Eagles fans, the team isn’t blessed with a lot of cap space. It’s going to be very difficult for Philadelphia to manufacture the space required to land a legitimate superstar on the open market.

Instead, look for the team to focus on trying to find undervalued free agents this offseason. The majority of the players on this list fall into that category.

5. Chris Godwin

Godwin is the one guy on this list who absolutely won’t sign a bargain contract this offseason. If he escapes Tampa Bay he’s going to receive a ton of lucrative offers for teams looking to nab a new No. 1 wide receiver.

The Eagles have a profound need for that kind of player. Godwin’s arrival would immediately give Philadelphia’s quarterback a much-needed weapon to utilize in the passing game. Whether that passer will be Carson Wentz or Jalen Hurts remains an open question.

Chances are Godwin will be too expensive for Philadelphia, but he’s a perfect fit in terms of age, talent and scheme. The Eagles should move heaven and earth to sign a player of this caliber. It’s impossible to overstate just how much he’d boost an offense that’s in desperate need of a big-time playmaker on the outside.
