The debate is over, as Stephen A. Smith has to admit that Tom Brady is the GOAT.

The GOAT conversation is over, according to Stephen A. Smith. That title belongs to Tom Brady, and Tom Brady alone.

After his Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 55, Brady has now won seven Lombardi Trophies. Brady is 7-3 all time in Super Bowls. While there was some talk Patrick Mahomes could usurp him at some point down the line, that is not happening. Brady has the head-to-head tiebreaker in their two previous postseason meetings. Even Smith gets it.

No contrarian will be able to debate Tom Brady’s undisputed GOAT status

With that seventh Super Bowl, Brady has ascended to a level only a few athletes have ever gotten to before. At the summit of the North American sports pantheon are Wayne Gretzky, Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps and Serena Williams, the very best at what they did/do. Mahomes simply does not have enough time to catch Brady at the NFL quarterback summit.

While sports analysts like Smith have made careers with their lukewarm to scorching-hot takes, you cannot make an argument for a quarterback who is better than Brady, no matter how much you love Mahomes, John Elway or Joe Montana. The numbers do not add up to support any other signal-caller at this point in time. That could change potentially, but this debate is absolutely over.

If Stephen A. Smith says the GOAT debate is over, then the GOAT debate is over with and done.
