DL. Florida State. Marvin Wilson. player. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. 131. 10

Everyone wants to focus in on the Watson news. Yes, that sells stories, but let’s be frank; it’s not the only reason Houston was good. Take a look at all four of their playoff runs under Bill O’Brien. Notice something?

A top 10 defense led the way. Even Brock Osweiler won a playoff game thanks to his defense. It’s the one thing Houston truly needs to fix as much as their relationship with their quarterback.

Wilson might have been a top name at one point this season, but his production diminished under Mike Norvell in Tallahassee for 2020. Ultimately, his leg injury was too much to bear, thus costing him a higher grade on most big boards.

The Texans are missing that D.J. Reader-style defensive player in their 3-4 unit. Should they go after Wilson though, he could be better suited as a five tech should Lovie Smith’s defense remain a similar formation. Either way, Wilson makes the Texans’ front seven better.
