After the Houston Texans released J.J. Watt, is there a chance he stays in Texas and signs with the Dallas Cowboys?

J.J. Watt has been released and is free to sign with any team in the NFL. Will he stay in the Lone Star State and join the team his old fans hate the most? The Dallas Cowboys are always rumored to sign all the big names that hit the market or trade for the biggest stars who are on the trade block.

Watt would be a great addition to the Cowboys defense that had a rough 2020 season, and he’d be welcomed with open arms by defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.

After the news Watt was released, Lawrence tagged him on Twitter with an emoji of a cell phone and the eyes emoji.

In other words, he wants Watt to give him a call to see if they can team up in Dallas.

The Cowboys have big things on their offseason agenda, primarily signing Dak Prescott to a long-term deal or at the least signing him to their franchise tender for a second straight season.

That’s the biggest decision facing the Cowboys this offseason and it’ll have ripple effects on what the organization does for years to come determining the outcome of Prescott’s situation.

Because of the uncertainty there, it’s probably unlikely that Watt signs with the Cowboys as a free agent. Additionally, Watt will be looking to sign with a team that’s close to competing for a Super Bowl, and the Cowboys aren’t close to competing for a Super Bowl. And with the Pittsburgh Steelers having both of his brothers on the roster and them being a bigger contender than Dallas, they make a lot of sense. So do the Green Bay Packers for the former Wisconsin star.

It’s a nice thought for Cowboys fans and Lawrence, but don’t start photoshopping Watt in a Cowboys uniform just yet.
