Jalen Hurts getting Eagles receivers together for workouts instead of Carson Wentz

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will gather players for an offseason workout instead of Carson Wentz. 

When the Philadelphia Eagles drafted Jalen Hurts last spring, he immediately made it clear he was ready to play beyond his years and showed plenty of maturity. Late in the season, Philadelphia ended up benching Carson Wentz, giving Hurts his time to shine.

With Wentz trade rumors continuing to swirl, it looks like Hurts is ready to step up and get his offense ready for the new year with some offseason workouts. Per a report, the second-year quarterback will be gathering his wideouts in the near future to get back on the grind.

This move shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Hurts is hoping to win the starting job for the Eagles in 2021. If Wentz gets traded, then it tells you that Philadelphia will be set on the former Oklahoma/Alabama standout leading the way.

With Wentz, it really remains up in the air where he’ll be playing next season. The former first-round pick has been linked with a potential move to the Chicago Bears. That move would make sense, as Chicago is also in need of a starter, with the team ready to move on from fellow former first-round pick Mitchell Trubisky.

Last season, Hurts appeared in 15 games for the Eagles, starting four of them. Hurts would go on to throw for 1,061 yards and six touchdowns. Hurts is also a terror with his legs, as he rushed for 354 yards and three more scores. Come next season, he could start Week 1 for the Eagles and new head coach Nick Sirianni. With Wentz, who knows how much longer he’ll be in Philly.
