DeVonta Smith will be a hot commodity in the top-half of the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

Alabama football star DeVonta Smith set the SEC on fire in his senior year, helping the Crimson Tide navigate a perfect season en route to another national title under head coach Nick Saban.

Smith became the first wide receiver to win the Heisman Trophy since Desmond Howard did it a generation prior with the Michigan Wolverines. Though he is not expected to be the first or second player taken in the 2021 NFL Draft, Smith will undoubtedly come off the board before the middle of the first round. What NFL teams are in the mix to land the former Alabama standout in 2021?

5 teams for DeVonta Smith in 2021 NFL Draft

5. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. (No. 12). San Francisco 49ers. player. 42. NFC West

Smith would help make this bland offense a bit more dynamic

Even though the San Francisco 49ers are only a season removed from getting to the Super Bowl, they are once again seen as the worst team in the NFC West. This has been a defensive-led football team throughout most of the Kyle Shanahan era in Santa Clara. While he is a brilliant offensive mind, the 49ers offense could certainly use some more spark in the receiving game.

San Francisco used a first-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft on Brandon Aiyuk out of Arizona State. While he was fine in his rookie season with the 49ers, it was not enough to help keep San Francisco in the playoff mix for much of 2020. However, adding Smith to play opposite Aiyuk could make things very interesting for the 49ers’ passing game, especially with a healthy George Kittle.

While Smith could be available for the 49ers at No. 12, he is more likely to come off the board before San Francisco is on the clock. Though they could conceivably trade up for him, the 49ers do have more pressing needs than reaching on a wide receiver. With that in mind, there is next to no chance Smith would fall past the 49ers at No. 12 in the 2021 NFL Draft. This is Smith’s draft floor.
