Mets fire another employee for alleged sexual harassment
The Mets reportedly fired yet another employee for alleged sexual harassment.
There is plenty of excitement surrounding the New York Mets because of the on-field product. Francisco Lindor is in town and the team has a new beginning under the ownership of Steve Cohen.
But with the good has come the bad and truly alarming news. First, it was general manager Jared Porter getting fired right after taking the job for the sexual harassment of a female reporter. It turns out that wasn’t the only firing, as a report by The Athletic revealed Wednesday.

Mets quietly made another firing
Coach Ryan Ellis was also let go back in January after several women made allegations of sexual harassment against him. These warnings were reportedly given to the team starting in 2018 and it took until January 2021, when Porter was fired, to get Ellis out as well. Former Mets manager and current Los Angeles Angels coach Mickey Callaway is facing allegations of his own.
Cohen and the Mets promised accountability and it is good to see these firings be made.
Ellis was the team’s hitting performance coordinator and started working for the organization in 2006.
Cohen’s job is to clean up the problems and so far he is doing that. Other teams will hopefully take notice and make it a point to have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to harassment of any kind.
